Ken Griffey had 2 base hits and 3 RBI as the New York Yankees defeated the Minnesota Twins by the score of 9 to 1 at METRODOME. 

New York had the winning rally in the top of the 8th inning when they scored 4 runs on 4 hits. The biggest moment was provided by Griffey who silenced METRODOME as he doubled which was good for two runs. Minnesota was out-hit by New York, 11 hits to 8. 

Ron Guidry(15-4) went 8 innings allowing 1 run for the victory. Bert Blyleven(10-7) took the loss. He gave up just 3 runs and 4 hits in 7 and 2/3 innings.
