Eric Show collected 2 extra-base hits at JACK MURPHY STADIUM where the San Diego Padres beat the Chicago Cubs by the score of 4 to 3. 

San Diego won the game with a run in the bottom of the 8th inning. Graig Nettles doubled. After an out was recorded, Carmelo Martinez came to bat and drew a walk. Kevin McReynolds then lashed a single scoring the run. San Diego had 11 hits overall, while Chicago had 5. 

Mark Thurmond(6-2) was the winner allowing no runs in 1/3 of an inning. Goose Gossage preserved the game for Thurmond, recording his his 22nd save. George Frazier(0-2) was the loser in relief.
