Oddibe McDowell had 4 hits and 3 RBI at FENWAY PARK as the Texas Rangers, running on all cylinders, ripped the Boston Red Sox by a large 14 to 3 margin. 

McDowell was a thorn in the side of the hometown fans as he enjoyed a fine day at their team's expense. He cleared the fences for a two-run home run in the 2nd inning, laced a single in the 5th inning, lashed a one-base hit in the 7th inning and lashed a single in the 8th inning. Texas had 15 hits overall, while Boston had 7. 

The winning pitcher was Chris Welsh(2-2) who allowed 2 runs in 6 innings. Welsh got help from Greg Harris who earned his 27th save. The loss was charged to Tim Lollar(7-4). He was knocked around, surrendering 5 runs in 2 innings.
