In an entertaining game at Shibe Park the final score was the Montreal Expos 8, the Philadelphia Phillies 5. 

Montreal won the game with a rally in the top of the 8th inning with 3 runs using 3 hits. Sal Butera led off the inning for Montreal when he slapped a base-hit. Jim Wohlford was next to bat, but he was a strikeout victim. After another out, Vance Law then drew a walk. Andre Dawson followed and he stroked a single scoring a one-base hit run. Hubie Brooks came up to bat and doubled adding another two runs to their total. Overall Montreal out-hit Philadelphia 12 to 9. 

Dan Schatzeder(10-5) went 7 innings allowing 5 runs for the win. Jeff Reardon earned the save, his 23rd. The losing pitcher was Kent Tekulve(1-5) in relief. Montreal scored big getting 3 runs off him in 2 innings.
