September 11, 1985: Cardinals (84-54) at Mets (88-50)

Roger McDowell finished beautifully as the incredible New York Mets defeated the St. Louis Cardinals by the score of 9 to 8 at SHEA STADIUM. 

 Darryl Strawberry enjoyed a fine evening at the plate. He tripled in the 2nd inning and emptied the bases with a Grand Slam homerun in the 3rd inning. McDowell was perfect in the ninth giving him his 21st save on the season. 

 Ed Lynch(19-6) went 5 innings allowing 4 runs for the win. Kurt Kepshire(7-9) absorbed the loss. He allowed a few too many baserunners giving up 7 hits and 4 walks in 3 and 1/3 innings, his ERA jumped from 4.32 to 4.78.
