Terry Kennedy hit a homerun and had 2 RBI as the San Diego Padres defeated the Houston Astros in 10 innings 4 to 3 at Colt Stadium. 

The score was knotted at 3 after nine innings. Finally, San Diego pulled the game out in the 10th inning. After an out was recorded, Tim Flannery lined a base-hit. One out later, Steve Garvey came up and he singled. Kevin McReynolds then doubled scoring the run. San Diego banged out 10 hits on the night. 

The victory was credited to Roy Lee Jackson(3-0) who went 2 innings, allowing 1 run. Goose Gossage was credited with his 30th save. The losing pitcher was Bill Dawley(2-1) in relief.
