Kennedy provided the offensive punch. He slapped a base-hit in the 2nd inning, rifled a three-run blast in the 3rd inning, ripped a single plating a run in the 7th inning and lashed a one-base hit resulting in a run in the 9th inning. Overall San Diego out-hit Houston 11 to 7.
Lamarr Hoyt(14-15) allowed 2 runs in 7 innings, and picked up the victory. Tim Stoddard earned his 1st save. Joe Niekro(10-16) was charged with the loss. He gave up 5 runs and 8 hits in 6 and 2/3 innings.
San Diego now has a record of 76-66. With the loss, the Houston ballclub's record is 67-75.
