April 13, 1985 Game 49: Angels (2-2) at Athletics (1-3)

Another pair of west coast teams playing today and it was an ugly one. There was 13 walks in the game 11 were by A's pitchers. Ron Romanick would take the mound for the Angels and Tim Birtsas for the Athletics.

A triple by DeCinces would score Carew and Downing and the Angels are up 2-0. They would get 3 more in the 3rd. Jones would walk with the bases loaded and force home Carew. Boone would then single and that would score Downing and Grich. Its now 5-0.

Birtsas was all over the place and could not find the strikezone. He would walk 9 in 6 innings. 8 in the first 3. Tommy John was not much better as he would give up 4 hits and 2 walks. However, he did not surrender a run.

The Athletics would get a run in the 6th on a Lansford HR and 3 more in the 8th on another Lanford HR. Its now 5-4 Angels.

Donnie Moore would retired all 6 batters he faced to pick up his 2nd save.
