Rick Mahler pitched a 4 hit shutout at Fulton County Stadium today in front of 30,389 screaming Braves fans. He was locked in early and kept Cub hitters off balance. He was able to set up his changeup with great location of his fastball. Mahler improves to (3-4) on the season. Eddie Haas was grateful to be able to rest his weary bullpen. Scott Sanderson pitched well for the Cubs, but he was hit with the loss giving up 3 runs in 7 iinings of work. Davey Lopes was the only bright spot for the Cubs on offense. He had 2 of the 4 Cub hits and stole 2 bases.
