June 9, 1985: Royals (33-21) at Angels (23-31)

In a close game the Kansas City Royals got by the California Angels by the score of 7 to 5. 

California was unable to claim the lead after Kansas City went ahead in the top of the 5th inning plating an isolated run utilizing 2 base hits. Lonnie Smith cracked a solo homerun. After an out was recorded, Hal McRae came up and he laced a base-knock. Frank White then drew a walk. After another out, Darryl Motley dug into the batters box next, but he struck out. Kansas City banged out 9 hits on the afternoon. 

The winning pitcher was Bud Black(7-4) who allowed 5 runs in 6 and 1/3 innings. Dan Quisenberry recorded his 15th save. Mike Witt(3-6) absorbed the loss. Kansas City knocked him around a bit, as he gave up 7 runs in 6 and 2/3 innings.
