June 12, 1985: Cardinals (35-22) at Pirates (22-33)

Tommy Herr had 3 base hits and 3 RBI as the St. Louis Cardinals outscored the Pittsburgh Pirates in 12 innings 7 to 6. 

Both teams were tied at 5 runs apiece after nine innings. Finally, St. Louis pulled the game out in the 12th inning. After an out was recorded, Vince Coleman got things going when he slapped a base-hit. After another out, Herr came to the plate and doubled. Jack Clark then reached on an error. Despite losing, Pittsburgh out-hit St. Louis 15 to 12. 

Ken Dayley(8-0) went 3 innings allowing no runs for the win. Jeff Lahti earned the save, his 12th. Jim Winn(1-2) was hit with the loss in relief. 

The St. Louis ballclub's record now stands at 35-22. With the loss 
Pittsburgh now has a record of 22-33.
