June 12, 1985: Mets (35-21) at Phillies (21-35)

Ed Lynch pitched 9 strong innings at VETERANS STADIUM where the New York Mets beat the Philadelphia Phillies 4 to 1.

New York started with a bang, jumping out to an early lead in their half of the first as they scored 2 runs on 2 base hits. That early run support was all that Lynch(7-3) required. New York managed 9 hits in their victory.

The losing pitcher was John Denny(6-7). He pitched 7 and 2/3 innings allowing 8 hits and 1 walk. 'All of my pitches were working tonight,' Lynch said. 'I felt really good out there, and heck, I think I could have gone longer.'
