Sammy Stewart went 3 solid innings as the Baltimore Orioles defeated the ice-cold Milwaukee Brewers in 12 innings by the score of 6 to 5 at MEMORIAL STADIUM.

Both teams were tied at 5 runs apiece after nine innings. Baltimore was victorious in the 12th inning. After an out was recorded, Eddie Murray doubled. One out later, Mike Young came to the plate and drew a walk. Larry Sheets then reached on an error resulting in an exciting win for Baltimore and a raucous post-game celebration by the home town fans. Milwaukee had 14 hits in the game while Baltimore had 6, but Baltimore had the more timely hits.

The win was credited to Storm Davis(8-3) who went 3 innings allowing no runs. Jaime Cocanower(2-5) suffered the loss in relief. He was a hard-luck loser as he did not allow an earned run in his 2 and 2/3 innings of work.
