June 18, 1985: Red Sox (38-25) at Tigers (37-24)

Juan Berenguer struck out 10 batters as the Detroit Tigers beat the Boston Red Sox by a score of 5 to 3.

Berenguer(2-0) gave Detroit a solid outing. He surrendered 10 hits and 3 walks in 7 innings. Detroit managed 8 hits in their victory.

Berenguer got relief help from Willie Hernandez who gained credit for his 15th save. Bruce Hurst(6-8) was charged with the loss. He struck out 12 batters in 8 innings despite losing the game.

Everyone seemed to enjoy the performance of Berenguer - except Boston. John McNamara lamented, 'He just was 'on' tonight. He was keeping our guys off balance all game. A fine game by a good strikeout pitcher - makes it a fun game for the hometown fans - unfortunately we were the visitors!'
