July 6,1985: White Sox (36-41) at Indians (32-50)

Third baseman Brook Jacoby cleared three ducks from a very crowded pond with a grand slam as the Cleveland Indians defeated the Chicago White Sox 13 to 6 at MUNICIPAL STADIUM.

Jacoby enjoyed a big evening at the plate. He ripped a one-base hit in the 1st inning, ripped a base-hit which scored a run in the 3rd inning and launched a rocket-shot out of the park for a Grand Slam homerun in the 4th inning. Chicago was not lacking for run support as they scored in 5 separate innings, yet victory eluded them as they seemed to forget that pitching is also needed to win ballgames.

Curt Wardle(2-6) picked up the victory, allowing 4 runs in 5 innings. Wardle was helped out by Rich Thompson who recorded his 5th save. Gene Nelson(8-9) suffered the loss. He was hit hard and gave up 8 hits and 3 walks in 2 and 2/3 innings.
