July 18, 1985: Rangers (43-46) at Tigers (54-33)

The Detroit Tigers and the Texas Rangers locked up in an exciting one-run game at TIGER STADIUM. The final score was the Detroit Tigers 6, the Texas Rangers 5. 

Detroit jumped on top of Texas in the bottom of the 6th inning when they scored 2 runs on 2 hits. The big moment was provided by Dave Bergman who made the crowd come alive when he hit a single which was good for two runs. The Texas offense proved no trouble in the 9th. 

Todd Crane(9-5) went 7 and 2/3 innings allowing 5 runs for the win. Willie Hernandez preserved the game for Crane, recording his his 21st save. Dave Rozema(3-9) was charged with the loss in relief. He gave up 3 hits and 1 walk in 3 and 1/3 innings. 

Detroit remained hot, improving their record to 54-33. They now have a record of 9-1 in recent days. With this loss, Texas has a 3-7 record of late, 43-46 overall.
