July 22, 1985: Reds (49-43) at Mets (63-29)

Bo Diaz went deep and had 2 RBI as the Cincinnati Reds outscored the New York Mets 5 to 2. 

New York was unable to climb back into it after Cincinnati went ahead for good in the 3rd inning scoring one runner utilizing 2 base hits. That early scoring held up. After the 4th inning, neither team was able to score. 

Mario Soto(14-7) went 8 innings allowing 2 runs for the victory. John Franco earned the save, his 21st. Roger McDowell(2-3) was the losing pitcher. He surrendered 9 hits and 1 walk in 5 innings.
