July 22, 1985: Yankees (52-39) at Royals (52-41)

First baseman Don Mattingly blasted a homerun and had 5 RBI at ROYALS STADIUM as the New York Yankees came back dramatically to top the Kansas City Royals by the score of 9 to 7. 

Mattingly provided the offensive punch. He blasted a two-run home run in the 4th inning and doubled plating all three baserunners in the 9th inning. Both teams ended up with 10 hits on the night. 

Ron Guidry(16-4) was the winner allowing 5 runs in 8 innings. Bret Saberhagen(11-6) was the loser. With this win, New York has a 52-39 record. They have been 7-3 lately. With this loss, Kansas City has a 5-5 record of late, 52-41 overall.
