August 2, 1985: Dodgers (62-41) at Reds (56-46)

Jay Tibbs whitewashed Los Angeles on 3 hits at Crosley Field where the Cincinnati Reds beat the Los Angeles Dodgers 4 to 0.

Tibbs(8-11) dominated Los Angeles hitters. He didn't allow much, just 3 hits and 1 walk in 9 innings dropping his ERA from 4.46 to 4.23. The pitchers took over after the 4th inning as neither team was able to score again.

Bob Welch(12-6) was hit with the loss. He got hit pretty hard, allowing 10 hits and 3 walks in 5 innings. 'When Tibbs is on like that it is a tough game to play, no doubt about it,' Tommy Lasorda said. 'He always pitches well against us.'
