July 31, 1985: Giants (43-59) at Dodgers (62-40)

Catcher Bob Brenly went deep and had 2 RBI as the San Francisco Giants beat the Los Angeles Dodgers by a score of 4 to 3.

San Francisco came up with 3 runs in the 6th inning when they came up with 4 base hits. The biggest moment was provided by Brenly who deflated the mood of the partisan fans when he clubbed a two-run home run. Los Angeles tried unsuccessfully to come back in the 9th.

Jim Gott(9-6) got credit for the victory, pitching 8 innings and allowing 3 runs. Gott was helped out by Mark Davis who recorded his 13th save. Jerry Reuss(12-6) ended up with the loss.

'Fundamentals, fundamentals, fundamentals' said Tommy Lasorda after the game. 'We lost this game tonight because we didn't follow the instructions every Little Leaguer hears every day.'
