August 5, 1985: Padres (59-48) at Reds (57-48)

Eric Show had an impressive outing as the San Diego Padres defeated the Cincinnati Reds by a score of 2 to 1 at Crosley Field.

In the top of the 3rd inning San Diego scored 2 runs. Tim Flannery led off and started the rally when he doubled. Tony Gwynn stepped up next and he drew a walk. Steve Garvey then doubled scoring two teammates. That early scoring held up. Cincinnati was retired without difficulty in the bottom of the 9th.

The win went to Show(13-9) who allowed 1 run in the game. Tom Browning(10-9) was given the loss. He surrendered 4 hits and 4 walks in 8 innings.

'Show pitched a gem of a game', Pete Rose recounted. 'He kept our batters off balance the entire game.'
