August 11, 1985: Angels (52-59) at Twins (46-65)

In a thriller the California Angels staged a dramatic comeback then held on to win over the Minnesota Twins by a score of 2 to 1 at METRODOME. 

California had the winning rally in the top of the 9th inning with 2 runs utilizing 2 base hits. Gary Pettis led off and keyed the rally when he drew a walk. Pettis swiped second base. Rod Carew then delivered a one-base hit. One out later, Reggie Jackson was a strikeout victim, unable to help out. Ruppert Jones came up to bat and banged out a single knocking home two runners. The game was a scoreless duel until the 7th inning. 

Jim Slaton(8-12) allowed 1 run in 8 innings, and picked up the victory. Slaton got relief help from Donnie Moore who gained credit for his 25th save. Bert Blyleven(13-9) took the loss. 

'I pin this one on my own shoulders,' Blyleven said. 'The bottom line is I didn't get the job done. Our fans deserve better than this.'
