August 18, 1985: Reds (64-54) at Astros (56-61)

Glenn Davis had 3 base hits and 2 RBI at Colt Stadium where the Houston Astros beat the Cincinnati Reds 4 to 2. 

Houston scored the decisive runs in a big bottom of the 8th inning scoring 3 runs on 3 hits. Bill Doran led off and keyed the rally when he drew a walk. Craig Reynolds came next and he delivered a single. Kevin Bass then laced a single resulting in a run. Bass took second on the throw. Two outs later Davis stepped up to the plate and he lashed a one-base hit driving in another run. Davis took second on the throw. John Franco then fired a sharp breaking ball that appeared to cross-up the catcher. In any event, it got by him and was ruled a passed ball scoring the final run of the inning. Houston and Cincinnati each finished the night with 8 hits. 

Ron Mathis(3-3) allowed no runs in 1 inning, and picked up the victory. Dave Smith gained credit for his 22nd save. Joe Price(4-3) was tagged with the loss in relief.
