August 31, 1985: Pirates (57-72) at Reds (69-61)

The Pittsburgh Pirates nipped the Cincinnati Reds 4 to 3 at Crosley Field in a hard fought contest. 

The game was won by Pittsburgh with a run in the 8th inning. Mike Brown doubled. After an out was recorded, Jim Morrison stepped up to the plate and he ripped a base-knock scoring the run. Cincinnati had a chance in the 9th but they came up short. 

Rick Rhoden(10-12) went 7 innings allowing 3 runs for the victory. Rhoden got help from Cecilio Guante who was credited with his 27th save. Tom Hume(2-2) was the loser in relief.
