Marvell Wynne had 3 base hits and 2 RBI at Forbes Field where the Pittsburgh Pirates beat the Philadelphia Phillies in 10 innings by the score of 6 to 5. 

The game was deadlocked at 5 after nine full innings. Pittsburgh ended up winning it in the 10th inning. After an out was recorded, Tony Pena lined a single. Jim Morrison stepped into the batter's box and he hit a single. Wynne then lined a one-base hit giving Pittsburgh the win as 11,980 happy fans joyfully celebrated. Pittsburgh finished with 14 hits in the victory. 

The win was credited to Al Holland(4-2) who went 1 inning allowing no runs. Jerry Koosman(4-5) suffered the loss in relief. He gave up 3 hits and no walks in 1/3 of an inning.
