Garvey provided much of the offense. He slapped a base-hit knocking in a run in the 2nd inning, ripped a base-knock in the 5th inning, doubled which brought home a run in the 7th inning and popped a two-run clout over the fence in the 9th inning. San Diego kept the scorekeepers busy in the 1st inning with 4 runs on 5 hits and the 2nd inning with 6 runs. Even though they scored in 6 different innings, San Francisco was not able to pull off the win.
The win went to Lamarr Hoyt(15-15) who allowed 5 runs in 6 innings. Atlee Hammaker(15-8) was tagged with the loss.
