1985 NLCS Game 6: Dodgers (2-4) at Mets (4-2)

In a thriller the New York Mets staged a dramatic comeback over the Los Angeles Dodgers winning by a score of 3 to 1 at SHEA STADIUM. 

New York erupted with the game winning runs in the bottom of the 9th inning with 3 runs on 3 hits. Wally Backman started the inning off right when he ripped a base-hit. Keith Hernandez next to the plate and he laced a single. Hernandez took second on the throw. Gary Carter then clubbed a three-run home run resulting in an exciting win for New York and a wild post-game celebration by the home town fans. Los Angeles was out-hit by New York, 6 hits to 3. 

Roger McDowell(2-0) got credit for the victory, pitching 1 inning and allowing no runs. Bob Welch(1-1) was the loser. Carter despite only hitting .148 in the series takes home the MVP award. His 2 home runs were both game enders and his 7 RBI led the team.
