Steve Sax had 4 hits as the spectacular Los Angeles Dodgers outscored the Atlanta Braves 8 to 6. 

Los Angeles took the lead for keeps in the 2nd inning when they scored 3 runs on 4 hits. Tom Niedenfuer earned the save with a perfect ninth, his 21st save. 

The victory went to Bob Welch(14-8) who went 6 innings, allowing 5 runs. Joe Johnson(0-5) ended up with the loss. Los Angeles scored big getting 7 runs off him in 4 and 2/3 innings.
