Steve Ontiveros had a strong outing at OAKLAND COLISEUM as the Kansas City Royals lost a heartbreaker to Oakland Athletics by the score of 3 to 2. 

Oakland scored the deciding run in the bottom of the 9th inning. After an out was recorded, Dave Collins lined a base-hit. Steve Henderson next to the plate and he doubled giving Oakland the victory and sending the 26,262 home-town fans home happy. Oakland finished with 9 hits in the victory. 

Ontiveros(3-3) got credit for the victory, pitching 3 innings and allowing no runs. Mike Jones(2-2) ended up with the loss in relief. He pitched 1 inning allowing 2 hits and 1 walk.
