After an out was recorded, Jim Wohlford stepped up to the plate and he lined a single. Sal Butera then stroked a base-hit plating a run. Mitch Webster followed next and he delivered a single scoring the final run of the inning. Montreal had 13 hits for the game and Chicago had 9.
Bryn Smith(10-15) got credit for the victory, pitching 8 innings and allowing 3 runs. Smith was helped out by Jeff Reardon who recorded his 24th save. Dick Ruthven(1-4) suffered the loss in relief.
