Mario Soto recorded a complete game shutout and second baseman Ron Oester had 4 hits and 4 RBI at Crosley Field where the Cincinnati Reds beat the San Francisco Giants 7 to 0. 

Soto(20-10) was solid in the win. He didn't give up much, just 5 hits and 6 walks in 9 innings. Cincinnati finished with 13 hits in the victory. 

Vida Blue(9-18) took the loss. He got hit pretty hard, allowing 9 hits and 3 walks in 5 innings. With the win Cincinnati now has a record of 76-67. With the loss, San Francisco has a record of 7-3 lately, 64-79 overall.
