Mike Krukow mowed down 11 San Diego batters and third baseman Chris Brown had 3 base hits and 2 RBI at CANDLESTICK PARK as the San Diego Padres lost a heartbreaker to San Francisco Giants by the score of 4 to 3. 

San Francisco scored the deciding run in the bottom of the 9th inning. Jose Uribe ripped a base-knock. Mark Davis stepped into the batter's box and he laid down a sacrifice bunt. Dan Gladden then lined a base-hit resulting in a mighty exciting win for San Francisco and the 12,062 home town fans in attendance. San Francisco ended up with 10 hits for the game while San Diego had 7. 

Mark Davis(3-3) picked up the victory, allowing 1 run in 1 inning. Goose Gossage(5-9) suffered the loss in relief. He pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up 2 hits and no walks.
