1985 ALCS Game 1: Royals (0-1) at Blue Jays (1-0)

The Toronto Blue Jays defeated the Kansas City Royals by a score of 7 to 4 at EXHIBITION STADIUM. 

Kansas City never recovered after Toronto took the lead in the bottom of the 4th inning scoring 2 runners on 2 hits. The key offensive moment was provided by Ernie Whitt who made the home-town crowd a happy bunch when he smashed a two-run homer. Toronto rapped out 9 hits for the afternoon. 

The win went to Dave Stieb(1-0) who allowed 4 runs in 8 innings. Tom Henke recorded the save, his 1st. Bret Saberhagen(0-1) was the loser. He was knocked around pretty good, giving up 7 runs in 4 and 1/3 innings.
