October 5, 1985: Expos (78-83) at Mets (102-59)

Dwight Gooden whiffed 12 batters as the dominant New York Mets pulled out a win over the Montreal Expos by a score of 3 to 2 at SHEA STADIUM. 

The deciding run was scored by New York in the bottom of the 9th. George Foster smacked a single. After an out was recorded, Larry Bowa stepped up to the plate and he banged out a single. Len Dykstra then ripped a one-base hit giving New York the victory as 46,306 happy fans celebrated wildly. New York had just 5 hits for the afternoon. 

Gooden(22-7) got the victory, allowing 2 runs for the game. David Palmer(8-15) was charged with the loss.
