Lou Whitaker homered and had 2 RBI and Jack Morris retired 10 batters on strikeouts as the very potent Detroit Tigers bested the Baltimore Orioles 8 to 6 at MEMORIAL STADIUM. 

Morris(20-10) gave a fine effort for Detroit. He went 8 innings and surrended up 7 hits and 6 walks. Detroit banged out 9 hits on the night. 

Willie Hernandez got the save, his 38th. Mike Flanagan(9-4) suffered the loss. He got hit pretty hard, allowing 7 hits and 5 walks in 4 and 2/3 innings.
