October 7, 1985: Royals (91-71) at Rangers (82-80)

First baseman Steve Balboni went deep and had 5 RBI as the Kansas City Royals ballclub embarrassed the Texas Rangers by the count of 15 to 5. 

Balboni had a big day against Texas. He delivered a base-hit in the 2nd inning, smacked a three-run homer in the 3rd inning and tripled scoring two baserunners in the 5th inning. Kansas City bats were very productive in the 3rd inning which saw them score 4 runs on 4 hits and the 5th inning with 8 runs on 8 hits. Kansas City finished with 21 hits while Texas ended up with 10. 

The winning pitcher was Bud Black(16-11) who allowed 2 runs in 6 and 1/3 innings. Mike Mason(15-13) absorbed the loss. He saw his ERA jump from 5.06 to 5.31 as gave up 8 runs in 4 innings.
