April 11, 1985 Game 28: Cardinals at Mets

The bats were brought out for this as two smacked the starters around Shea Stadium. John Tudor was a disaster on the mound. If it was close to the strikezone Mets hitters were all over him. Howard Johnson said "it look like he was throwing a beach ball at us." Tudar lackrd velocity on his fastball and movement on his secondary pitches. Ron Darling would fair a little better but seemed to lack control of his fastball.

Foster and Strawberry would hit back to back Home Runs in the 2nd to put the Mets up 2-0. The Cardinals would answer back in the 3rd with a Clark 3-Run bomb, outting the Cards up 3-2.

The Mets would take the lead for good in the 5th. Gary Carter would smack a Grand Slam with 2-outs. The Mets lead 6-3. They would get 2 more in the 6th Santana would Single home Strawberry and HOJO would hold at 3rd. Wilson would hit a flyball to Braun that would be deep enough to score HOJO. 8-3 Mets.

The Cardinals would get 2 in the 8th to make the score 8-5. Braun would score on a Nieto groundball to Herr. Pendleton would Single and Clark would score. The Mets would score 1 more in the 9th. Johnson would Single and Santana would advance him to 3rd. Ozzie Smith would boot a groundball and Johnson would score.
