April 14, 1985 Game 63: Reds (2-2) at Mets (2-2)

Dwight Gooden was masterful again today. Gooden is his second start of the season has continued his dominance over opposing hitters. Gooden is his first start went 10 innings and gave up 1 one on 5 hits. Today he would toss a 4 hit shutout. He would also walk 2 and strikeout 8. The Reds would counter with Jay Tibbs. Tibbs pitched well enough to win but he ran into a red hot Gooden.

The Mets would get 1 in the 1st when a Johnson double would score Strawberry. They would get 2 more in the 4th on a Johnson 2-run homer his first of the year and that would be all they would need as Gooden in 2 starts has been amazing.

Tony Perez was the lone bright spot on the Reds offense as he fills in for an injured Pete Rose. He went 2-4 of off Gooden.

Goodens final line was 9 IP, 0 R, 4H, 2BB and 8 k's. He has only given up 1 run in 19 IP.

Johnson went 2-4 with a 2b, HR and 3 RBI

The Final Score 3-0 Mets
