April 14, 1985 Game 64: Twins (4-1) at Mariners (2-3)

Game 3 of a 3 game set between the Twins and Mariners today. The Twins took the first two and was looking to sweep. The Mariners had other plans and were looking to take this one and get back to .500. The Twins would send Frank Viola to face the hometown team. The Mariners would send Mike Moore to the hill. 17,235 fans would go home highly disappointed.

The Twins would get 2 in the 5th when Teufel would take a Moore hanging curveball and put into the leftfield seats. The Twins would get 3 in the 8th when Teufel would strike again. This time he would take an 0-2 fastball on the outer portion of the plate and take it the other way and put it into the rightfield stands for a 3 run Homer. THat would be his second of the game and third on the season.It is now 5-0 Twins and that would send Moore to the showers. In the 9th The Twins would go up 6-0 on a Tom Brunansky SAC FLY to Bradley that would score Meier.

The Twins got two great performances today one from Viola and one from Teufel. Viola wouls only give up 4 hits and 2 BB while striking out 5 to get the complete game shutout.

Teufel would go 2-4 with 2 HR and 5 RBI. Teufel on the season is batting .286 with 3 HR and 11 RBI, to lead the Twins offense. In a post game interview Teufel said "I am feeling good at the plate and seeing the ball well. I hope I can keep it going."
