April 22, 1985 Game 155: Royals (6-5) at Blue Jays (7-5)

In what some are calling the early version of what could be the ALCS. The Royals and the Blue Jays show why they are the favorites,  The Blue Jays send their ace (Dave Stieb) out to face Charlie Leibrandt.

The Royals get 1 in the 1st.  Wilson leads off the game with a triple and Sheridan hit a SACFLY to right and Wilson scores to make it 1-0 Royals.  Motley makes it 2-0 in the 2nd with a solo shot off of Stieb.

The Blue Jays get 1 in the 2nd.  Burroughs singles, Martinez doubles and Fernandez draws a walk to load the bases.  Iorg hits a 2-out single to center and Burroughs scores and its now 2-1 Royals.

In the 4th the Blue Jays take the lead.  Marinez singles, Fernandez doubles, Garcia bounces into a 4-3 FC and Martinez scores.  Iorg follows that with a single and that will score Fernandez to make the score 3-2.  

The rest of the game belonged to the pitchers.  Stieb was racking up the strikeouts and would finsih with  on the day.  Leibrandt was giving up lots of hits and the same time getting big outs in order to keep this close.  The Blue Jays would hold on for the Win and Stieb picks up his 3rd win.
