April 22, 1985 Game 156: Mets (5-6) at Cardinals (8-3)

I thought there would be a bigger crowd at Busch Stadium today but only 16,324 bothered to show up.  This would turn out to be the best pitchers dual so far this season.  Sid Fernandez get the start for the Mets and John Tudor for the Cardinals.

The Mets get an early run as Wilson leads off the game with a single and then steals 2nd.  Hernandez singles and Wilson scores to make it 1-0 Mets.  That would be all the scoring in the game as Tudor and Fernandez were locked in.

Fernandez was brilliant despite walking 6 he would only surrender 4 hits while striking out 10.  Tudor would scatter 7 hits and a walk in 8 innings of work while striking out 7.  There was no real threat of scoring after the 1st by either team.

The Final Score 1-0 Mets
