April 23, 1985 Game 160: Phillies (6-6) at Expos (6-6)

Cold day in Montreal today and it showed in the attendance.  Only 8,223 showed up at the ballpark. Steve Carlton would get the start for the Phillies and Bill Laskey for the Expos.

In the 1st the Phillies get 1, Samuel singles and steals 2nd, Stone singles and Samuel comes around to score and it's 1-0 Phillies.  The Phillies add to their lead in the 4th as Schmidt is issued a walk, Corcoran singles, Gross doubles and Schmidt scores to make it 2-0.

The Expos cut into the Phillie lead as Wohlford hits Carltons big sweeping curve into the cheap seats for a solo homer and it's 2-1 Phillies.  In the 6th the Expos tie it up, Wohlford walks , Brooks singles, Thompson singles to load the bases,  Wallach hits a deep SACFLY to right and Wohlford scores and it is now 2-2.

The pitchers would take over from there and they were deadlock at 2 for the next 7 innings.  The Phillies get 1 in the 13th to take the lead.  Russell is brought in to pinch hit for Anderson and draws a walk, Stone singles and Russell heads to 3rd.  Hayes then hits a slow roller to 1st and Thompsons only play is to tag the runner and Russell scores to make 3-2.

Tekulve comes into the game and makes it interesting he would put runners at first and third with one out but was able to induce a doubleplay to end the game.

The Final Score 3-2 Phillies
