April 23, 1985 Game 167: Orioles (4-8) at Rangers (4-8)

Two of the worst teams in the American League are going at it again game 2 of this series the Orioles won the first game 6-0 behind a brilliant performance by Scott McGregor.  The Rangers are looking to bounce back as they send Jeff Russell to face Storm Davis who has struggled lately.

In the 1st, the Wiggins walks and steals 2nd.  Dauer swings and misses with a hit run on and Wiggins is safe at 3rd.  That makes him the 1st person this season to steal 3rd.  Dauer then walks, Ripken walks to load the bases.   Murray then hits a SACFLY to center and Wiggins scores. Roenicke walks to load the bases again.  Lynn walks scoring Dauer.  Connally hits a SACFLY to right and that will score Ripken to make it 3-0 Orioles.  Russell settles in after the 1st and Davis is throwing beebe's.

The Rangers get to Davis in the 8th when Slaught hits a 2 run homer to make it 3-2.  In the 9th Aase comes in to try and close it out but he comes up empty again .  O'Brien hits a solo shot to tie the game at 3.  Aase can't finish the game in the 10th Wilkerson walks, Harrah singles and Wilkerson heads to 3rd. Ward hits a sharp one to Murray and the usually sure handed first baseman boots and Wilkerson scores and the Rangers win.
