April 23, 1985 Game 166: Dodgers (6-8) at Giants (7-5)

The Dodgers have lost 5 in row and Tommy Lasorda is hoping that Fernando Valenzuela can get the Dodgers on track.  Vida Blue get the nod for the Giants.

The Dodgers score in the 1st. Duncan leads off with a walk, Madlock singles and duncan advances to 3rd.  Guerrero bounces into a 6-4 FC and Duncan scores and the Dodgers lead it 1-0.  In the 3rd Valenzuela singles, Duncan singles and Valenzuela heads to 3rd, Duncan steals 2nd.  Madlock hits an SACFLY to Leonard and Valenzuela scores.  Guerrero than smacks an 2-1 change-up for a 2 run homer to make it 4-0 Dodgers.

They will add to their lead in the 4th.  Maldonado bounces one to Blue who throws it away and is charged an error. Anderson and Duncan walk to load the bases.  Madlock doubles scoring Maldonado and Anderson score and it is now 6-0 Dodgers.

In the 5th the Dodgers score 2 more.  Guerrero leads off with a walk, Maldonado rips a 2-out triple scoring Guerrero, Anderson gets on 2nd due to an error on Gladden and Maldonado scores and its now 8-0 Dodgers.

Marshall makes it 9-0 in the 6th when he hits a Garrelts slider for a solo homer.  Meanwhile Valenzuela is cruising along as he has only allowed one hit.  In the 9th Landreaux hits a solo homer to make it 10-0 Dodgers.

Valenzuela works the 9th to pick up his 2nd win.  He dominated the Giants allowing only 2 hits and 2 walks and striking out 5.
