April 24, 1985 Game 172: Brewers (7-5) at White Sox (6-6)

These two have split the first two games of this three game set.  Both are inconsistent and need to get some order to make their season a success.  The Brewers send Pete Vuckovich out to face Britt Burns.  Vuckovich has been awful so far this season and Burns has been inconsistent like the rest of his team.

The White Sox hit Vuckovich  for a couple of runs in the 1st. Salazar singles with 1-out, Baines walks, Fisk rips a 2-out  double to right-center and Salazar score easily.  Vuckovich walks Gamble and that will load the bases.  Boston hits a single to left and Baines comes around to score and it's 2-0 White Sox.

The Brewers knot it up in the 5th when they touch Burns for a couple.  Moore leads off with a single, Romero hits a 1-out double and the slow moving Moore stops at 3rd. Manning then follows with a single that scores both and we are tied at 2.  Fisk will give the Sox the lead back in the bottom of the 5th with a solo shot off of Vuckovich and its 3-2 White Sox.

The White Sox add to their lead in the 6th.  Hulett drops a 1-out Texas leaguer into right for a single,  Guillen singles and Law is hit by Vuckovich to load the bases and that would end Vuckovich's day. Bob Gibson comes in and Salazar singles off of him and Hulett scores, Baines singles to center and Gullen scores, Law tries to scores but Manning throws a dart to moore to nail Manning but the damage had been done and its now 5-2 White Sox.

The White Sox add 1 more in the 7th.  Fisk singles and will advance on a 2-3 FC,  Hulett doubles and Fisk scores to make it 6-2.  The Brewers get 1 in the 8th.  Romero leads off with a double and then Yount smacks a 2-out single to score him.

Bob James works the 9th for the White Sox with out Incident to pick up his 2nd save and Help Burns get his 1st win.

The Final Score 6-3 White Sox
