April 24, 1985 Game 173: Phillies (7-6) at Expos (6-7)

The Phillies and the Expos will be fighting out in Montreal today.  They have split the first two games of the series each a winner by 1 run.  The Philles send John Denny to the hill and Bryn Smith toes the rubber for the Expos.

The Phillies put up a 4 spot in the 4th when Schmidt singles, Corcoran and Gross walk to load the bases.  Jeltz then rips a bases clearing triple to make it 3-0.  Aguayo singles and that scores Jeltz to make it 4-0.

The Phillies add to their lead in the 7th.  Hayes singles and steals 2nd, Schmidt then smacks a double to score Hayes and its now 5-0 Phillies.  Denny is crusining along tossing a two-hitter until he runs into some trouble in the 8th.

The Expos erupt on the bottom of the 8th as Denny starts to fatigue.  Brooks get on 2nd after a 2BE on Stone, Law singles and Brooks come around to score.  Butera walks and a single by Raines loads the bases.  Winningham singles to score Law and Butera and it's now 5-3.  Francona singles and Raines scores, Dawson singles and Winningham scores, Brooks singles and FRancona score making it 6-5 Expos.
