The Yankees need this win to stay on top of the East as the Blue Jays are closing in fast.  The White Sox are in 2nd in the West and they want to put the squeeze on the Angels.  The Yankees look to Ed Whitson and hope that he can gain some consistency and pitch effectively.  The White Sox counter with their ace Tom Seaver, who has yet to lose.
