April 27, 1985 Game 210: Cardinals (11-5) at Expos (7-9)

The Cardinals are looking to be the first team to win 12 games this year and they are in the drivers seat in the East.  The Expos are just hoping to compete.  The Cardinals send John Tudor to the hill and the Expos counter with Joe Hesketh.

In the 2nd the Expos take the early lead.  Wohlford leads off with a triple, Francona hits a flyball to the warning track in left and Wohlford scores on the SACFLY and its 1-0 Expos.  In the 3rd  the Cardinals tie it up.  Tudor leads off with a walk, Coleman walks, Clark smacks a 2-out double and Tudor scores and its now 1-1.

The Expos regain the lead in the 4th when Wallach singles, Wohlford bounces into a 4-3 FC and Wallach moves up to 2nd. FRancona then takes a 1-1 fastball and pokes it into to center and Wallach scores to give the Expos a 2-1 lead and thats where the score stays until the 8th.

In the 8th Van Slyke walks and steals 2nd, Herr drops down a bunt and the only play is at 1st and Van Slyke advances to 3rd.  Clark hits a SACFLY to center and Van Slyke scores and the games is tied at 2.

This game would head into extra innings and in the top of the 10th Cardinals take the lead.  Coleman get on with an error charged to Wallach and then he steals 2nd.  Herr singles with 2-outs and Coleman scores easily an the Cardinals lead it 3-2.  Lahti closes out the 10th for his 4th save.
