April 27, 1985 Game 209: Yankees (10-4) at White Sox (7-7)

The Yankees just keep on winning and the White Sox are scuffling as of late but are still in 2nd place in the West.  Dennis Rasmussen gets the start for the Yankees and Joel Davis for the White Sox.

In the 2nd the Yankees pick up a run, Meachem reaches 2nd on a 2BE on Paciorek and Henderson singles scoring Meachem to make the score 1-0.  In the 3rd Mattingly hits a solo homer off of Davis to make it 2-0.  The White Sox Cut into that lead in the 4th as Fletcher hits a solo bomb off of Rasmussen to make it 2-1.

It would stay that way until the 8th when the Yankees score some insurance runs. Randolph walks, Mattingly is hit by Davis, Winfield walks and that sends Davis to the showers.  Baylor bounces on into the hole between 1st and 2nd and Cruz's only play is at 1st and randolph scores.  Sample hits a SACFLY to left and Mattingly scores, Berra singles and Winfield scores and the Yankees are now up 5-1.

The Final Score 5-1 Yankees
