April 28, 1985 Game 223: Cardinals (12-5) at Expos (7-10)

The best team in the National League takes on the Expos at Olympic Stadium.  The Cardinals give the ball to Kurt Kepshire and the Dan Schatzeder get a spot start for the Expos.

The Expos get 3 in the 1st on a Andre Dawson 3 run homer, his 5th of the season and the Expos are up 3-0. They would get another in the 4th, Raines draws a walk from Kepshire, Winningham singles, Dawson doubles scoring Raines to make it 4-0 Expos.

In the 6th the Cardinals start to cut into the 4 run deficit.  Herr hits a 2 run homer off of Schatzeder, his 3rd of the year and that makes it a 4-2 Expos lead.  In the 7th the Cardinal get another.  Pendleton walks,  Coleman singles with 2-outs, and Van Slyke singles scoring Pendleton and it is now 4-3 Expos.

Jeff Reardon comes on in the 9th to shut this one down but the Cardinals have other plans.  Smith leads off with a triple, Coleman get a 1-out SACFLY to right scoring Smith and tying the game at 4.  But the Expos get to Bill Campbell in the 10th to secure the win.  Law triples and Fitzgerald its one deep into the hole at short scoring Law and the game is over.
